In Elder Physics: The Wrong of Time: Stories from an Elder Home, Gerald and his son offer a series of witty monologues concerning life in an elder home. As Gerald's physical and mental condition deteriorate, he moves from Independent Living to Assisted Living and, eventually, Death. Throughout this gerontic narrative, father and son draw from a variety of texts and deftly refunction them for their own purposes.

About the Author, James R. Hugunin

James Hugunin is a professor of History of Photography and Contemporary Theory at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is the author of four novels, two books of art criticism/theory, numerous artist books, and is the founder and editor of two art journals, The Dumb Ox and U-Turn. In 1983, he was awarded the Reva and David Logan Award for Distinguished New Writing in Photography and has gone on to publish numerous works including Wreck & Ruin: Photography, Temporality, and World (Dis)order, Writing Pictures: Case Studies in Photographic Criticism 1983- 2012, and a variety of novels.
