Mouth is Charles Hood's novel, illustrated throughout by Christine Mugnolo, and the only work of fiction Hood has published. The premise is small and unstable: two lovers at the entrance to a fragile relationship, and the dreams and nightmares that connect them.
It won the 2016 Kenneth Patchen Award for the Innovative Novel, a recognition the press extends as much to Mugnolo's illustrations as to Hood's prose: image and sentence holding the two-person fragility together across the length of the book.
